Entertaining with Little Acre’s Smallgoods

It’s that time of year when having your friends and family over becomes a weekly occasion, and you may be running out of ideas on how to feed everyone! Whether you’re entertaining for breakfast, lunch or dinner, one thing remains the same – you want to serve food that all of your guests will love.

We’ve put together a few ideas to make summer entertaining a little easier, using our range of Little Acre smallgoods to make every dish extra delicious.

Nitrate Free Bacon

A delicately-flavoured bacon free from preservatives and nitrates. Our pasture-raised heritage pork rests in a brine for two weeks, before being hung to dry then hitting the smoker.

To serve:

  • Make everyone’s favourite side: potato salad. Chop Little Acre Bacon into bite-sized pieces, then fry until golden and crisp to elevate this BBQ classic.

  • Cook up a BIG breakfast. We’re talking eggs, bacon, fresh bread, tomatoes, mushrooms – the lot. Head to the Willunga Farmers Market on Saturdays to stock up on the best local ingredients from our great region.

  • Add it to your veggie side dishes for a flavour burst. We love adding bacon to our Brussels Sprouts – even the fussier eaters will be sure to give it a try!

Smoked Chorizo

Smoky and spicy, this dry-cured pork sausage is packed with flavour from La Chinata smoked paprika – admired globally for its distinctive taste.

To serve:

  • Fry it up in a breakfast shakshuka, a simple one-pan Middle Eastern dish featuring flavoursome simmering tomatoes and poached eggs. Get your hands on a carton of feather&PECK pasture raised eggs to make it extra delicious!

  • Make a Chicken & Chorizo Paella over the open fire, perfect for entertaining on those hot summer nights.

Fennel & Chilli Sausages

This is a super versatile snag that can be enjoyed in many ways. It’s everybody’s favourite – featuring exceptional ingredients and a classic combination where toasted fennel seeds meet a chilli kick.

To serve:

  • Crumble the de-cased sausage over a pizza base topped with pesto and fresh mozzarella, cook until crisp and charred at the edges. For an extra flavour explosion, drizzle over your favourite chilli oil and top with fresh basil.

  • Pull together a few simple ingredients and make this Pork & Fennel Pasta — the perfect quick weeknight dish for your hungry guests.

Lamb Merguez Sausages

Traditionally made in the Middle East and Northern Africa, the Lamb Merguez sausage is heavy on spice and big on flavour.

To serve:

  • Cook over charcoal to accentuate the smoky flavour, and serve with crisp iceberg lettuce, hummus, fresh tomato and pita.

  • Use the de-cased sausage in a Middle Eastern pilaf, a traditional rice dish with aromatic spices and topped with fresh herbs.

All our handmade smallgoods are wrapped in biodegradable film instead of plastic so there’s less waste with every serve. This means you can focus on entertaining – even the largest of families – while still doing your bit for the environment.
